Why use forklift snowploughs ?

Snow plough attachments for forklift trucks offer the ability to convert the forklift into very effective snow clearing machine. With the forklift snow plough simply fitting to the forks of the forklift, snow can be cleared away from access points quickly and efficiently.

What type of forklift snow ploughs are there ?

Forklift snow ploughs traditionally are manufactured with steel pusher blades, however polyethylene blades can be used. Steel bladed  snow plough attachments tend to provide stronger and more durable properties and would in most cases be considered the preferred choice.

The forklift snow ploughs, as in our range can come with either a fixed steel blade, angled to the left, an adjustable steel blade, positioned left, right or straight or a sprung loaded steel blade, ideal for minimising plough damage from object such as manhole covers etc.

The width of the blades on the forklift snow ploughs can range from 1220mm up to 2130mm.

Snow plough attachments for forklifts all characteristically have steel wear-strips fitted to the bottom of the blades can come supplied  with optional rubber blade inserts.

Which forklift snow plough would best suit my application?

To determine which type of snow plough attachment for your forklift truck would best suit your application, this decision would have to be based on the environment the forklift snow plough is to be used in.  Fixed bladed snow ploughs are ideal for clearing snow away from roads etc as the blades are angled to the left. These snow ploughs are a great low cost entry level option for turning your fork truck into a powerful snow  clearing machine. 

If more versatility is required as to the clearing direction, then the adjustable snow plough would be the preferred choice.  With the ability to adjust the fork truck plough blade to th left or right or centre, snow can be ploughed from either margin or piled in heaps in the middle of the yard if required. For ploughing large areas the adjustable forklift mounted snow plough is a great choice.

Clearing snow from an area that has many raised bumps and manhole covers could cause damage to the forklift snow plough blade, in this instance the sprung loaded snow plough would be recommended. With the robust springs of these snow ploughs absorbing the shock of any impact, the sprung loaded snow plough attachment is the perfect choice for ultimate longevity and reduced yard damage

Will the forklift snow plough fit my forklift truck?

 All our forklift snow ploughs are fork mounted (meaning they simply slip onto the forks of the forklift). The fork pockets on the forklift snow ploughs are designed to accept a forklift fork up to 150mm wide x 45mm thick (larger pockets can be supplied if your forklift truck forks are larger than this).

How long will the snow plough last ?

Using a snow plough on a fork truck for snow clearing can take its toll on the snow plough blade over time, however all our fork truck snow plough attachments have been stress analysed to eliminate weak points and stress points that can occur when ploughing. Material twisting can be common on inferior fork truck snow ploughs which is why it is important to puchase a snow blade attachment that is built to a high quality and designed to give real long term value for money

Can damage to the snow plough blade occur ?

Yes, the very nature of pushing a snow plough blade with a forklift over concrete / tarmac can cause damage to the plough blade. Our fork truck snow ploughs come with a 10mm thick steel wearstrip for long lasting durability, however the addition of a rubber blade insert can greatly increase this service life even more.  Rubber blade inserts act as a barrier betweeen the metal snow plough blade and the floor, not only do these insert increase the lifespan of the fork truck mounted snow plough, they also increase the snow clearing properties and overall effectivness of the snow plough.
