Forklift Extensions - Buyers Guide
Why use forklift fork extensions ?
Forklift extensions offer a simple yet convenient way of temporarily increase the existing length of your forklift truck forks to offer long reach and stabilising capabilities. Allow stable and safe handling of loads which are longer that the forklift forks whilst retaining truck manoeuvrability are the most important benefits fork truck extensions can provide.
When choosing your forklift fork extensions, ensure the fork extensions offered is of a good build quality with characteristics that will provide a long and durable service life. Fork extensions with fully formed toe protector’s offer additional strengthening properties and easy guidance into pallets.
What are the Health & Safety Requirements ?
All our forklift truck extensions comply with ISO 13284 “Fork-lift trucks – Fork-arm extensions and telescopic fork arms – Technical characteristics and strength requirements”
Our forklift extensions are of a heavy duty construction and therefore allows you to increase the length of your forklift truck forks by 50% when using our fork extensions (i.e. 1200mm long forks + 50% = 1800mm allowable forklift extension length)
All our forklift extensions come ‘CE’ marked and supplied with Certificate of Conformity, full technical rating details, and set of operating instructions.
How can I check that my forklift truck is compatible?
The most important check to make when ensuring the forklift extensions are compatible with your forklift truck is to measure the actual size of the forks on the lift truck (width x thickness x length). We supply a range of forklift truck extensions to accommodate any forklift fork size
The ‘drop’ of the forklift fork should also be considered when choosing the correct forklift fork extensions. The ‘drop’ of the fork is the distance the bottom hanger of the forklift fork is from the ground when the forks are on ground level. If this ‘drop’ or measurement is greater than 75mm then a ‘Closed Base’ fork extension should be used. Our ‘Closed Base’ fork extensions come with metal straps welded on the underside of the forklift extensions sleeve to ensure the back of the fork extensions do not travel up the back of the forklift fork when weight is applied (Please consult or sales office for more information on ‘Closed’ Base’ fork extensions)
