Forklift Wide Load Carrier - Buyers Guide
Why use forklift wide load carriers ?
Forklift wide load carriers are ideal attachment for use when handling wide loads with a forklift that are wider than the forklift truck can accommodate. Loads such as extra wide pallets or long products such as steel or plastic pipes, steel flats, plastic extrusions or timber are all perfect example where a forklift load stabilizer attachment can be of benefit.
What are the Health & Safety Requirements ?
All our wide load carriers for forklifts are manufactured in accordance with the latest EC machinery directives under a quality controlled ISO 9001 regime.
All forklift load stabilizers come supplied ‘CE’ marked and issued with Certificate of Conformity, full technical rating details, and full set of operating instructions.
How do forklift load stabilsers work ?
We offer three different models of load stabilisers for forklifts, a four fork attachment, an adjustable load stabiliser and a six fork load stabilisers. Each forklift wide load carrier, although slightly different in their characteristics, all operate in the same fashion. The two inner forks of the wide load carrier are hollow and are designed to accept the solid steel forks of the forklift (Length of the sleeves of the wide load carrier attachment must not exceed the forklift truck forks by more than 50%). These two inner forks are then securely fastened to the forklift by means of heel retaining pins. Once fitted to the forklift, the wide load stabiliser can then be used to spread the load of wide loads safely.
What different types of wide load carriers are there?
As mentioned above we offer three different models of wide load stabilisers for forklifts, a four fork wide load stabilisers, an adjustable fork wide load stabiliser and a six fork wide load stabiliser. The four fork and six fork wide load carriers are only distinguished by the number of fork sleeves the unit has. For extra wide loads over 6m wide, the product being handled may require more support underneath than the four fork attachment can provide. This is where the six fork attachment would be utilised.
The adjustable four fork attachment, like the four fork attachment, has four sleeves, however the two outer sleeves on this model can be manually adjusted laterally by up to 750mm each side. This makes this particular forklift wide load carrier very versitle if you are handling a variety of products with different widths.
How can I make sure the forklift wide carrier is suitable for my product?
As we make the wide load carriers for forklifts to order, we can make sure the unit is tailor made to suit your requirements. Once we have the information required, we will produce a drawing for you to view and check prior to manufacture
· Ensure the weight of your product is compatible with the capacity of the forklift load stabiliser
· Ensure the width of the load stabiliser for your forklift is suitable for your product (some products may need full support on the underside where as some products can afford overhang)
· Ensure the forklift capacity has sufficient capacity to handle both the forklift load stabiliser and the load being carried
· Double check all dimensions once the customer approval drawing has been issued to ensure the forklift load stabiliser is compatible with your forklift truck and suitable for the load being carried
