Why use a forklift carpet boom ?

Forklift carpet booms provide the ideal solution for safely handling long rolls of carpets whilst utilising your forklift truck.

What different types of forklift carpet booms are there?

When choosing a carpet boom for your forklift, the first decision you will need to consider is will the forklift truck be dedicated to handling carpets, or would the use of the carept boom be on a more ad-hoc basis throughout the day?.

Should the forklift truck be dedicted to handling carpets throughout the day, then a Carriage Mounted Carpet Boom would be the prefered choice. This type of forklift carpet boom will fit directly to the carriage plate of the forklift, taking the place of the forklift forks. When choosing a forklift boom to mount onto the carriage of the forklift, the carriage details of the forklift will need to be confirmed.  The carpet boom for the forklift will then be designed to hang direclty onto the carriage plate specified.

Should the forklift truck not be used primarily for handling carpets then a Fork Mounted Carpet Boom would be the considered choice. Where a quick changeover of forklift truck duties is required (i.e. going from pallet handling to carpet handling) then this carpet boom for the forklift truck will simply slide onto the existing forklift forks. Confirmation of forklift fork size (width x thickness) would need to be confirmed to ensure the carpet boom will fit over the forks.

Will the carpet boom fit my forklift ?

If a carriage mounted carpet boom is required, then confirmation of forklift carriage details would need to be confirmed to ensure compatibility. Likewise if a fork mounted carpet boom is required then confirmation of the forklift fork sizes would need to be confirmed to ensure compatibility. In both instances is is important to ensure the combination of carpet boom attachment and weight of carpet do not exceed the forklifts rated load centre capacity.

How do I choose the correct size forklift carpet boom ?

With a range of different carpet boom diameters and lengths available, choosing the correct carpet boom specification can seem a daunting task.

As a rule of thumb we recommend the length of the carpet pole should be 2/3rds the length of the carpet (i.e. Carpet length of 4000mm would require a 3000mm carpet pole)

The diameter of the carpet pole required would be dependant upon two factors, the overall length of the carpet and the weight of the carpet. We would carry out the necessary calculation based on these two factors to recommend the correct carpet boom diamter

Will the forklift carpet boom be strong enough ?

With no welding the entire carpet pole is threaded through the carpet boom backplate and locked in place with a nut giving maximum strength and a long service life
